Man's Best Friend (The Dog or the Fishing Pole?)

Man's Best Friend (The Dog or the Fishing Pole?)
The perfect way to spend a day, fishing the South Platte with my loyal friend Tailer. We both feel like we are a part of nature for a while.

Welcome!!!

This blog is both an attempt to journal all of our fishing, hiking, and camping adventures as well as a way of sharing them with people who we know or people who might be interested in the same type of trip. We are just amateur outdoorsmen and fly fishermen but we love to be in the mountains and need a better way of keeping track of the small details of our trips in order to learn from past experiences and mistakes. We appreciate that you have come this far and are looking at the home page. If you are still interested, please have a look around!

Family reunion 2010!
Our family reunion was held at the cabin over the weekend of July 9-11.  We began the weekend on Friday with stew for dinner, some baseball, and a campfire.  Tonya, Ryver and I slept in a tent the first night.  In total, there were 3 tent, 3 campers, and the cabin as sleeping quarters.  everyone but the Mattuskis were able to attend.  Saturday brought a hike to the Crags for most, which included summiting the crags and observing a baby deer from just a few feet away.  Grandpa, Uncle Joe Reyes, Uncle Duane, and Bob Swatek going fishing at Skaguay with minimal success.  They caught 9 total fish, all in the lake as the stream was very low.  There wasn't even water spilling over the dam to the stream.  Streamers on a bubble were the most effective pattern.  Saturday brought some capture the flag and Mexican food, plus another fire and some poker and outburst.  Overall, a fun trip with the fam.

And there it goes!

Ryver drove Jessica wherever she wanted to go.

This pitch was a little bit behind the batter.

Swing and a miss!
